I am a self-taught visual artist whose work is driven primarily by emotion and the therapeutic nature of creative expression. As human beings, our lives are in constant flux and I seek to capture those in-between moments when time stands still and where feelings cannot be ignored. I like the idea of putting this fleeting, intangible, bubbling sensation on a canvas and making it permanent.
Struggling to express a voice that is authentically my own, I believe in the transformative power of art, both emotionally and mentally. As someone who has struggled with mental illness, I'm a strong advocate for art as therapy and I want to inspire others dealing with their own hurdles to express themselves creatively, to share their voice without fear of judgment, and to ultimately heal whatever has been wounded.
As an educator and artist, currently working at Hillcrest High School in Ottawa teaching English and Visual Arts, I'm passionate about my craft and inspiring the next generation to express themselves without fear.
Let's heal together.
