Meet the Artist
I am a self-taught visual artist whose work is driven primarily by emotion and the therapeutic nature of creative expression. As human beings, our lives are in constant flux and I seek to capture those in-between moments when time stands still and where feelings cannot be ignored. I like the idea of putting this fleeting, intangible, bubbling sensation on a canvas and making it permanent.
Struggling to express a voice that is authentically my own, I believe in the transformative power of art, both emotionally and mentally. As someone who has struggled with mental illness, I'm a strong advocate for art as therapy and I want to inspire others dealing with their own hurdles to express themselves creatively, to share their voice without fear of judgment, and to ultimately heal whatever has been wounded.
As an educator and artist, currently teaching High School English and Visual Arts, I'm passionate about my craft and inspiring the next generation to express themselves without fear.
2020 has been a particularly difficult year and I've never put so much of myself into creating. Beside literature, it's where I turn whenever I feel anxious or out of control; which is most days.
I hope you're inspired to find your own creative outlet this year.
Let's heal together.
